Ford presents the fourth generation of its compact, which is full of finishes, technologies and engines.

In 2018, the Focus celebrates its 20 years and begins the fourth chapter of its history.  Absent from the last Geneva Motor Show, the new generation made its debut this week at a special event in London.  It will arrive in dealerships this summer.

Ford started from a blank page since the compact inaugurates a new platform.  The dimensions change slightly, with 2 cm longer in length (4.38 meters) and 1.5 cm less in height (1.48 meters).  The wheelbase is stretched by 5 cm, which will improve the habitability.  The trunk gains 25 liters of capacity, for a new total of 388 liters.

On the look side, this new Focus muscle its appearance, with a plunging roof and well-marked ribs above the wheels.  But above all it gives an impression of deja-vu.  There is an air logic of resemblance with the little sister Fiesta, but also with other compacts, such as the BMW 1 Series or the Fiat Tipo!  The car is offered with different personalities, who have their own aesthetic elements.  There is for example a sporty ST Line or an Active adventurer, with protections in raw plastic.

Inside, Ford has learned the lessons of the past.  We forget the loaded presentation, place to a more aerial and more ergonomic design, with an 8 inch touch screen at hand.  The Focus wishes to be the most technological of the general purpose compacts.  It therefore offers numerous driving aids, including cruise control capable of stopping and restarting the vehicle in traffic jams or 100% automatic parking.  It is the first European Ford with head-up display and the possibility of Wi-Fi.

With its new technical base, the Focus loses weight.  It will be possible to opt for active suspensions, which improve both comfort and dynamism.  The engine offer is very rich.  In gasoline, there will be blocks of 85, 100, 125, 150 and 182 hp.  For diesel, we will have 95, 120 and 150 hp.  Several engines will be available with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
